What are skin tightening devices?
Skin tightening devices are non-invasive or minimally invasive tools used to improve the firmness, elasticity, and overall appearance of the skin. They are often recommended by your Dermatologist to address sagging, wrinkles, and fine lines. These devices work by stimulating collagen production, which helps tighten and firm up the skin.
At Stephanie Ho Dermatology, we offer different types of skin tightening devices, including:
- Ultherapy - Gold standard high intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) for skin tightening, lifting, double chin reduction and jawline refinement. Best in class for the ultimate lift.
- Sylfirm X – Microneedling radiofrequency device that lightens melasma and tightens skin. Extremely comfortable procedure that increases collagen production to minimise the appearance of fine lines, large pores and laxity. For the treatment of full face, upper and lower eyelids, neck and decolletage areas.
- BTL Exilis - Radiofrequency device to stimulate collagen and improve mild laxity. Great for rejuvenating thin skin around eyes.
Skin tightening devices can be combined with laser treatments to offer a complete face and neck rejuvenation. The number of treatments required varies, depending on the individual's skin condition and the specific device used. The stronger skin tightening device such as Ultherapy delivers excellent results and is recommended once a year. It is sometimes described as painful by patients but we have devised excellent numbing techniques to minimise pain and optimise comfort during the procedure. Sylfirm X and BLT Exilis are gentle skin tightening treatments which are generally well-tolerated, with minimal discomfort and downtime. Do consult your Dermatologist to determine the most suitable treatment option for you.
Pre-tightening consultation:
You will have ample opportunity to discuss your skin tightening treatment plan and its potential benefits and risks with your Dermatologist. You will have ample time to consider your options before committing to any skin tightening treatments.
During the skin tightening procedure:
Your care and well being is of utmost concern to us during the laser treatment. We will ensure adequate numbing to make sure you are comfortable at all times.
Post-tightening care:
After your skin tightening treatment, we will counsel you on how to protect and manage your skin to minimise the risk of complications. We will also explain to you the type of downtime to expect and how to manage any symptoms that may occur when you get home. Our approachable team is always available to answer any questions you may have after your treatment. Depending on the skin tightening treatment, you may need multiple sessions for optimal results. Your Dermatologist will schedule any necessary follow-up appointments to track your progress.
